It was such a noble idea in theory, one fears what will become of the dispossed, the needy, the sick, the UN in its current configuration is used more as a mechanism of repression and restriction of free voices that seems to fly in the face and against, its stated ideals.

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Midway through his murderous rampage, the Virginia Tech gunman went to the post office and mailed NBC a package containing photos and videos of him brandishing guns and delivering a snarling, profanity-laced tirade about rich "brats" and their "hedonistic needs."

"You had a hundred billion chances and ways to have avoided today," 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui says in a harsh monotone. "But you decided to spill my blood. You forced me into a corner and gave me only one option. The decision was yours. Now you have blood on your hands that will never wash off."

NBC said the package contained a rambling and often-incoherent, 1,800-word video manifesto, plus 43 photos, 11 of them showing him aiming handguns at the camera.
He repeatedly suggests he was picked on or otherwise hurt.

"You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul and torched my conscience," he says, apparently reading from his manifesto. "You thought it was one pathetic boy's life you were extinguishing. Thanks to you, I die like Jesus Christ, to inspire generations of the weak and the defenseless people."

The package arrived at NBC's headquarters in New York two days after Cho killed 32 people and committed suicide in the deadliest one-man shooting rampage in modern U.S. history. It bore a Postal Service time stamp showing that it had been mailed at a Virginia post office at 9:01 a.m. Monday, about an hour and 45 minutes after Cho first opened fire.

That would help explain one of the biggest mysteries about the massacre: where the gunman was and what he did during that two-hour window between the first burst of gunfire, at a high-rise dorm, and the second fusillade, at a classroom building.

"Your Mercedes wasn't enough, you brats," says Cho, a South Korean immigrant whose parents work at a dry cleaners in surburban Washington. "Your golden necklaces weren't enough, you snobs. Your trust funds wasn't enough. Your vodka and cognac wasn't enough. All your debaucheries weren't enough. Those weren't enough to fulfill your hedonistic needs. You had everything."

Some of the pictures show him smiling; others show him frowning and snarling. Some depict him brandishing two weapons at a time, one in each hand. He wears a khaki-colored military-style vest, fingerless gloves, a black T-shirt, a backpack and a backwards, black baseball cap.

Another photo shows him swinging a hammer two-fisted. Another shows an angry-looking Cho holding a gun to his temple.
He refers to "martyrs like Eric and Dylan" — a reference to the teenage killers in the Columbine High massacre.

The package was sent by overnight delivery but did not arrive at NBC until Wednesday morning. It had apparently been delayed because it had the wrong ZIP code, NBC said.

An alert postal employee brought the package to NBC's attention after noticing the Blacksburg return address and a name similar to the words reportedly found scrawled in red ink on Cho's arm after the bloodbath, "Ismail Ax," NBC said.
NBC News President Steve Capus said that the network received the package around noon and notified the FBI.

He said the FBI asked NBC to hold off reporting on it so that the bureau could look at it first, and NBC complied, finally breaking the story just before a police announcement of the package at 4:30 p.m.

Capus said it was clear Cho videotaped himself, because he could be seen leaning in to shut off the camera.

State Police Spokeswoman Corinne Geller cautioned that, while the package was mailed between the two shootings, police have not inspected the footage and have yet to establish exactly when the images were made

He saved some of his students by barricading the door.

The Levaya of Professor Liviu Librescu A”H took place on Wednesday afternoon, at Shomrei Hachomos Chapels in Brooklyn a few moments after Mrs. Librescu arrived from Eretz Yisroel. She arrived in a vehicle from the Israeli Embassy, and was quickly ushered inside the Chapels.

In attendance was NYC Councilman Simcha Felder, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, and representatives of the Mayor’s office. NY State Assemblyman Dov Hikind delivered a very moving Hesped to the crowd. Rabbi Edgar Gluck then thanked all the public officials who worked together to speed the Levaya process, and recited Keil Maley. The crowd was then Melava the Niftar a bit, Kaddish was recited by an attendee, and they left for Kennedy airport.

May we never hear of such Tzaros again, and may we all use our energy which was used to expedite this Levaya - for happier occasions.

I've been avoiding writing much about the Virginia Tech shootings.
Too be honest I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at the senselessness of it all.
I'm sure a lot others feel a similar way.
When I watched this video of a survivor, the rawness and brutality of the event was conveyed, not only in what this man has to say, but even more so in what he couldn't say.
I'm still reeling at what could drive an inidividual to the degree of calculated hatred that the shooter displayed.

Rapper 50 Cent might be in da you-know-what for calling Jews “goons” on a radio show yesterday. On New York’s Hot 97’s “Miss Jones in the Morning” show, as the New York Daily News reports, Fitty called to weigh-in on fellow rapper Tony Yayo’s assault case. After telling the host that he didn’t think Yayo’s legal troubles would hurt “his crew,” he added, “Worry about the Je-Je-Je-Jew unit. They’re the real goon squad. When the lawyers come out, you’ll see what it is. I don’t pay nobody. I only pay the lawyers.” The rapper didn’t clarify what he meant, or if he was referring to anything in particular.

Annelies Marie "Anne" Frank (June 12, 1929 -- beginning of March, 1945) was a European Jewish girl (born in Germany, stateless since 1941, but she aimed to be Dutch as she grew up in the Netherlands) who wrote a diary while in hiding with her family and four friends in Amsterdam during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II.

Anne was born in Frankfurt, Germany, but her family moved to Amsterdam in 1933, after the Nazis gained power in Germany. However, she and her family were trapped when the Nazi occupation extended into the Netherlands. As persecutions against the Jewish population increased, the family went into hiding in July 1942 in hidden rooms in her father Otto Frank's office building.

After two years in hiding the group was betrayed and transported to concentration camps. Seven months after her arrest, Anne died of typhus in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp within days of her sister, Margot Frank. Her father, Otto, the only survivor of the group, returned to Amsterdam after the war ended, to find that her diary had been saved.

Convinced that it was a unique record, he took action to have it published. It was published originally in Dutch under the title Het Achterhuis: Dagboekbrieven van 12 Juni 1942 -- 1 Augustus 1944 (The Backhouse: Diary notes from 12 June 1942 -- 1 August 1944).

The diary, which was given to Anne Frank on her thirteenth birthday, chronicles her life from June 12, 1942 until August 1, 1944. It was eventually translated from its original Dutch into many languages and became one of the world's most widely read books. There have also been several films, television, theatrical productions, and even an opera based on the diary.

Described as the work of a mature and insightful mind, it provides an intimate examination of daily life under Nazi occupation and in hiding; through her writing, Anne Frank has become one of the most renowned and discussed of Holocaust victims.
